This page is dedicated to my great, great, grandfather, Louis Dearborne.  He was born about May 1840 in Natchitoches, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana.  He enlisted in The United States Colored Troops on April 27, 1864 in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.  He was assigned to Company K 4th Regiment U.S. Colored Cavalry.  In March of 1865, he was promoted to the rank of Corporal and transferred to Company A 4th Regiment United States Colored Cavalry, where he served until the unit mustered out, March 20, 1866.  Upon his discharge, he returned to Louisiana.  He married Hester CARNAHAN on 24 December 1867 in Cloutierville, Natchitoches Parish, Louisiana.  They had thirteen (13) children.  In 1894, Louis, along with D.T. Wallace founded a church, and is still used as a house of worship by his descendants.  Louis Dearborn died 1 June 1932 at the age of 92, and is buried in Cleveland/Cunningham Cemetery in Lena, Rapides Parish, Louisiana.
